About Frietha

Frietha Lawrence - Artist

The journey into a second career began when Frietha retired after 40 years as an RN. Having drawn and painted since childhood she was ready to make the dream of becoming an artist a reality.

Frietha attended Eastern Connecticut State University and earned a BA degree in studio art. “Count It All Joy” studio was opened shortly after on their Ashford farm property. She is certified to teach the Zentangle drawing method. Her award winning Zentangle picture was featured at the Mattatuck Museum in Waterbury , Connecticut. She participated in “Artist Open Studio” for many years and has exhibited in numerous art shows all over Connecticut. Frietha has done after school art projects at elementary schools for a number of years.

Frietha enjoys working especially with pen and ink. She also does work on oil, colored pencil, and watercolor.  There are patterns and colors and images in the world all around us. Pleasure comes in recognizing these elements and interpreting them onto paper and canvas. Inspirations come from nature, farms, animals and gardens.  The  glory of God is exhibited in all of creation.

She enjoys doing all kinds of craft projects with her grandchildren. One of her young granddaughters nicknamed her “Gramma Rosie”. This is what the grandchildren and great grandchildren  now call her.

Praise God for His many blessings.
